Education
Education Program is a core theme of Taungya.
Education is one of Taungya’s core areas of work, especially in the remote and disadvantaged communities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The organization has long experience in providing non-formal primary education services, supporting community schools, and building the capacity of teachers to ensure quality learning for children. Taungya’s education initiatives focus on bridging gaps in access, creating learning-friendly environments, and promoting holistic development for marginalized groups. By working with local governance leaders, traditional institutions, and national partners, Taungya strengthens community-based education systems that respect cultural identity while preparing children and youth for future opportunities.
BRAC NFPE
Taungya is implementing the **BRAC Non-Formal Primary Education (NFPE) Bridge Schools Project** to expand access to quality education in remote areas of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Through this initiative, Taungya supports ten community schools across Borkol Upazila, ensuring financial assistance, teacher capacity building, and holistic learning opportunities for children from marginalized communities. The project emphasizes inclusive education that respects cultural identity while addressing barriers to schooling faced by disadvantaged groups. By strengthening community-based education systems, Taungya helps bridge the gap between formal and non-formal education, empowering children with the knowledge and skills needed for a brighter future.
MJF Education
Taungya partners with the **Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF)** to strengthen education services for disadvantaged communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Through this collaboration, Taungya supports non-formal primary education initiatives, ensuring that children in remote and marginalized areas have access to quality learning opportunities. The programme focuses on building community schools, enhancing teacher capacity, and promoting inclusive education that respects Indigenous culture and identity. By integrating education with broader goals of equity, gender sensitivity, and community empowerment, the MJF Education Programme helps bridge gaps in access and prepares children for a more secure and resilient future.
